Plan Description

This cozy three-bedroom Cape Cod design draws its inspiration from the Joseph Atwood House, the oldest house in Chatham, Massachusetts. It was built in 1752 by a sea captain who made long voyages to all parts of the globe. A century later it was the home of Joseph C. Lincoln, author of stories about Cape Cod. Although Capes usually had single-pitch roofs, the builder of the Atwood House used the gambrel roof to increase the amount of headroom on the second floor. Updated floor plans give this full-size cottage a large country kitchen with a bay window and a work island/snack bar. Formal living and dining rooms are across the front of the house. The ell holds a mud room with a pantry and a washroom, a laundry room and a garage. There are three bedrooms upstairs, including a master suite with a deluxe bath.
